NASCAR x Ally Racing x Unrivaled | Alex Bowman #48 Race Car + Livery Design
Sophia Chang was commissioned to design a custom race car kit for NASCAR driver Alex Bowman and the Ally Racing No. 48, spanning the complete car wrap and livery, racing firesuit, and helmet design.
The collaboration brought together NASCAR and women’s professional basketball through Ally’s support of Unrivaled, the player-owned 3-on-3 women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. The design connected motorsports with the growing cultural momentum around women’s sports through a highly visible, cross-sport brand collaboration.
Sophia attended the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, experiencing the design in competition from the pit box alongside Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier and company.
The project expanded Sophia’s sports design practice into motorsports, bringing together race car livery design, graphic design, athlete partnerships, sponsorship creative, women’s sports, and cultural storytelling across the car, driver apparel, and racing environment.
